ABOUT US
Dr. Kate Hazeldene
Veterinarian and practice owner.
Kate was born, and grew up in Benalla. She returned here after university to work in a local mixed practice. In 2012 Kate decided to work for herself, mostly large animal calls on farms, based out of her vehicle. She soon needed a small consulting room and surgery, which eventually lead to the purchase of a house in Barkly street, Benalla.
Kate has a small farm and operates a small warmblood stud. She also has a son to keep her busy. Josie the jack russel comes to work with Kate every day. In her spare time Kate enjoys horse-riding, camping, fishing, adventure, cheese, wine and good times with friends. Until recently Kate competed her horse in dressage and eventing, but trail riding with her son on his pony now seems to be her thing.
Dr. Greg Murphy
Veterinarian.
Greg moved to the North East of Victoria in 1992 and soon made Benalla his home in 1993. Over the years, when he was not travelling overseas, he has worked as a large and small animal Veterinarian in most practices in the North East, from Euroa to Wodonga, Yea to Myrtleford, but mostly in Benalla. He Joined the team at Barkly Street Vets in February 2019.

Dr. Jade Noyes
Veterinarian.
Jade was born and raised in North Wales UK, and moved to Adelaide in 2010. She completed her veterinary studies in Roseworthy SA, whilst also working for an equine veterinarian, and moved to Benalla in January 2021. She has a love for all creatures big and small, and especially loves horse work and small animal surgery. Jade has a menagerie of pets, including her loyal groodle Summer, cocker spaniel Darcy, three rescue cats, 3 Alpacas and her 3 horses. Jade enjoys hiking, baking, teaching horse riding lessons and riding her horses in dressage and showjumping.

Dr. Regina Warne
Veterinarian.
Regina Grew up in Swan Hill with her family, and moved to Roseworthy Adelaide in 2018 to commence her veterinary studies. Since completing her veterinary studies Regina aspired to be a rural mixed practice veterinarian, which brought her out to Benalla. Regina has 2 cats Cornelia and Verity, and in her spare time likes to go hiking, baking, netball and tennis!
Regina is also passionate about climate action, and is an active member in a Vets for Climate action group.

Lia Doig
Veterinary Nurse.
Lia grew up in South East Melbourne. She first started working in the hospitality sector, but made the shift to Veterinary Nursing in 1999. Lia spent many years veterinary nursing in a busy Melbourne speciality centre before moving to Benalla to work as a vet nurse in 2007. Lia has worked with Kate since the very start of Barkly Street Vets in 2012.
Lia has an interest in animal biomechanics and healing, and has completed several courses in Bowen therapy and PEMF for horses and dogs.
Lia has 2 boys and in her spare time enjoys horse riding.

Simone Lewis
Receptionist and trainee veterinary nurse.
Simone grew up in Gisborne and moved to a deer farm in North East Victoria after completing a Diploma of Agriculture. During this course, Simone enjoyed halter training and showing Murray Grey and Scottish Highland Cattle. With the bug for showing and all things cattle, Simone joined the Wangaratta Show Society and been heavily involved in the show for the last 18+ years.
Simone is also and active member of the CFA and was the Australia Day local achiever of the year in 2019.
Simone has 3 children, 8 horses, 2 dogs, 1 cat and 4 pet frogs. On weekends she enjoys trail riding in the high country with her family

Helen McCauley
Receptionist
Helen has had more than 30 years working in the industry and we are delighted to have her as part of our team. Helen and her husband run a large sheep and cattle property near Benalla.

Sophia Martin Burgers
Receptionist and Trainee veterinary nurse
Sophia grew up in the quiet and beautiful town of bright before moving to Wangaratta in 2016. She adores her Border Collie, Blue, and has had him since 2019. She has worked 4 years in retail, 3 of which at Pets Domain Wangaratta. She has completed her Certificate II in Animal care and is currently studying for her Certificate IV in veterinary Nursing. She loves learning about canine behaviour and training and spends the majority of her spare time working and developing her dog.
Claire O'Gorman
Trainee veterinary nurse
Claire has grown up on a farm for most of her life from the age of 3 onwards, over the years she has had a range of animals from big to small. Claire has a strong love and understanding for her animals. Claire’s enjoys horse riding, taekwondo, camping, fishing, adventures, and being with her animals and family. Claire currently studying her Certificate 2 in Animal Care Studies and then plans to go on with Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing
